I lost a badminton match to a man twelve years older than me. He said the money had stopped doing anything for him — he earned more and felt the same. So he stepped off. I drove home turning it over. At what salary, what age, what pile of savings does the coin go quiet in your hand? I went looking for the number. It was stranger than I expected.


Everything Will Dissapear, and That Is Good News
If everything leaves, then the heavy things leave too. The shame goes. The old grudge you have carried for years slips away. The universe is slowly wiping the whole page clean. Sit with that, and something in your chest lets go. You are temporary. Wonderful. Then do your temporary things beautifully. Be kind while you can, lift the ship while you are the wave, and leave the shore a little softer than you found it.


Creators Vs Consumers
A long weekend. Three days, zero plans, a movie bucket list a decade in the making. By Sunday I had crossed off all six films and felt like I had eaten an entire wedding buffet alone, in the dark, standing up. The maker in me had spent three days locked in the boot of the car while the consumer drove around eating popcorn. Here is what that hollow Sunday taught me.


"I Gave a Robot One Job. Now I Have Questions."
A mathematician told me AI has consciousness. China built an AI empire while we argued. A robot stood in a kitchen flipping eggs, looking deeply unbothered. One word kept circling back. Approximation. The machine cleans to satisfactory and stops. So does my son. So, it turns out, does civilisation — medicine, law, engineering, all of it. The machines learned our oldest trick. What happens next is the only part they cannot approximate.
